Last week, Team Merit headed out to our newest Kirkland community, ZYLA, for a comprehensive frame walk of all four homes currently under construction. Located in the South Rose Hill neighborhood, ZYLA will feature an intimate pocket neighborhood comprised of Urban Series homes.
THE PURPOSE
A frame walk is a critical milestone of the new home construction process. The purpose of a frame walk is to get a feel for how these homes layout. You’re focusing on a few main things like accuracy to the construction plan set, that window placements are in correct locations, and that overall, that the livability and flow of the home makes sense. In rare cases, you might catch something you think needs to be corrected in order to better serve the future homeowners.
You’ll decide that you need a bigger pantry, or maybe there’s an additional window placement needed for optimal light. In that case, the team will request changes as needed, but they can also make a note for future projects that will feature the same plan. Every single home goes through multiple frame walks with Team Merit, in addition to smaller, less formal frame walks at multiple points throughout the construction process.
While Team Merit is made of pros with decades of experience, there really is no substitute for standing within a framed home to ensure every detail lives up to our standards. By noting these refinements for future projects, we ensure that our floor plans are constantly evolving. Our goal is to make every Merit home better than the last.
